GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: All employees within Braille Institute of America are expected to support the organization’s mission, vision, and values, work cooperatively with others, contribute to the positive morale of the department/center and be a respected representative of the organization.
Job Summary: Responsible for oversight of all daily administration of a specific office location or locations within a designated area or community. Ensures the successful execution of assigned site-based and community-based programs and services, with a strategic focus on coordinating with local partners.
Responsible for managing direct and indirect reporting team members, building and promoting team culture, and managing the budget for the assigned area/region. Responsible for facilitating the successful execution of programs, policies, and procedures in the assigned location. Responsible for effective collaboration with support departments across the organization and developing all human resources assigned to the location.
GRADE LEVEL CONSIDERATIONS:
The scope and complexity of the role will determine the wage grade for each center role taking into consideration factors such as, but not limited to, number of center employees directly or indirectly supervised, size of budget, number of functions reporting to the role, leased versus owned space, and degree of external impact and influence. The grade considerations will also consider the skills, experiences, and cross-organizational impact an individual may have.
In general, the following grade level guidelines apply:
Level II:
May be responsible for a single small or mid-size center with more than 15 team members, have responsibility for more than one center in two separate locations, and/or have cross-organizational responsibilities. Centers may be leased or owned and may have internally managed oversight for facilities at some operational level.
Incumbents at this level and above will have cross-organizational responsibilities such as leading process, improvement initiatives, or collaborating with others beyond their immediate centers to achieve results. This may include leading organization-wide initiatives, for example, creating and leading pilot projects.
The degree of external impact and influence is moderate to high based on the community's activities and the incumbent's capabilities. Outreach, Development, and other resources may be co-located at the center. May report to the Vice President, Programs and Services, or to the Director, Center Management III.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Depending on the center, directly supervises center administration team members and multiple positions that may include Instructors, Managers, Coordinator, Specialists, and/or administrative level jobs.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Knowledge and Education: A minimum four-year college degree or the equivalent in additional work experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of business operations/budget management, marketing/fundraising techniques, and program development/implementation required. Familiarity of diseases of the eye, related research, treatments, and technologies is desirable.
Skills and Abilities: Position requires excellent communication, presentation, leadership, decision making, organization, problem solving, team building and marketing skills. The ability to motivate staff and effectively manage regional operations is needed.
Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience in leadership and management of business operations is strongly preferred. Work experience with non-profit organizations, as well as the visually impaired and/or disabled community is desirable.
Work Environment: Position works in a standard office environment.
Physical Requirements: Position operates with standard office equipment.
