California Winter League Elevates Reach with Landmark Bally’s Sports Broadcast Partnership
Palm Springs, Calif. - The California Winter League (CWL) is ushering in a transformative era of exposure for its 2026 season. Beginning January 22nd, through an exclusive partnership with Bally’s Sports, every game played at the historic Palm Springs Stadium—former spring training home of the California Angels—will be broadcast live on the Bally’s Sports Live App. This landmark agreement places the CWL’s elite international talent on the same premier digital stage as the NBA, NHL, and the Savannah Bananas.
This partnership serves as a massive value-add for the CWL’s diverse player base. The 2026 roster features over 25 players from various countries, including Korea, Colombia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and the Dominican Republic. By moving to the Bally’s Sports Live App, the CWL provides these athletes with a digital stage that reaches scouts, front offices, and fans across the globe. Notably, the CWL will be the first live baseball featured on the app as Bally’s prepares to become the primary carrier for Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for the 2026 season. This alignment positions CWL players directly within the professional baseball ecosystem just as the scouting season intensifies.
Since its inception in 2010, the California Winter League has served as a vital pipeline for professional talent, with more than 950 players signing professional contracts. As the Official Winter League of the Frontier League—a premier MLB Partner League—the CWL is the definitive destination for free agents seeking to be scouted and signed. Each 2026 CWL team features managers from across the Frontier League, Pioneer League, American Association, United Shores Professional Baseball League, and Baseball United, all looking for talent to finalize their spring training rosters. This year’s elite staff includes significant Major League pedigree, featuring World Series Champion and Oakland Ballers manager Aaron Miles, former Seattle Mariners manager John McLaren, and MLB veteran Paul Noce.
The 2025 class alone exemplified the league's global footprint, with players securing professional contracts in diverse markets including China, Canada, Germany, Italy, Poland, Austria, and Mexico. This success builds upon a storied legacy of CWL alumni reaching the Major Leagues, such as Tyler Matzek (Atlanta Braves), Luke Barker (Milwaukee Brewers), Mickey Jannis (Baltimore Orioles), and Logan Gillaspie (San Diego Padres). That MLB pipeline remains active and thriving; the 2025 season saw two additional standouts, Sam Ruta (Kansas City Royals) and John Taylor (Texas Rangers), sign MLB contracts and successfully transition into affiliated baseball. The league’s prestige was further cemented when the Chinese National Baseball Team utilized the CWL as their primary preparation for the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. This tradition of high-level talent continues into 2026, as the roster features a new generation of players with Major League roots, including Andrew Allanson and Garrett Bevacqua—both sons of former MLB players. By now streaming every stadium game live on the Bally’s Sports Live App, the CWL is magnifying its "borderless" impact, empowering professional organizations to scout and sign elite talent in real-time, regardless of geography.
“The California Winter League is excited to be added to such an impressive platform to further the reach of the league and the opportunities created for our player base,” said Justin Reschke, California Winter League Vice President and General Manager. “This partnership will create an even greater opportunity to showcase the domestic and foreign talent that comes through Palm Springs year after year.”
The competition officially returns to Palm Springs Stadium on Thursday, January 22nd, as the Palm Springs Power take on the British Columbia Bombers in the season opener. Games will be played daily at the stadium (excluding Super Bowl Sunday) through February 11th. The CWL playoffs are scheduled to begin on February 13th, culminating in the Championship on February 15th. Games will be scheduled for 10 AM and 12:30 PM every day of the week during the season at Palm Springs Stadium.
