Pirates Bring Scorching Power to Screeching Halt
Palm Springs, Calif. –  In a rematch of the 2025 CPCL championship game, the Inland Valley Pirates topped the Palm Springs Power, by a final score of 7-4.
Despite Palm Springs’ admirable two-run effort in the final frame, the Pirates’ bullpen struggles were not enough for the Power to overcome the dominant pitching performance of Pirates’ starter Ryan Oaks.

Oaks pitched a game-high five innings, striking out eight Power batters, while allowing just two earned runs.

Palm Springs’ starting pitcher Tyler Crawford’s outing, though, was less smooth.

Crawford, who hurled three innings, allowed four hits and walked four Pirates, yielding three total runs, two of which were earned. Crawford added two strikeouts.

In better news for the Power, Caden Richards got back into the hit column a day after losing his 11-game hit streak, blasting a 362 foot home run over the right field wall.

The home run marked Richards’ third on the season, a team high. Brett Williams also had a strong showing, tallying three hits across four at bats, while also adding a walk.

Richards and Williams were unsupported in their efforts, however, as the rest of the Power lineup was kept at bay.

RJ Holmes, a University of Virginia product who came into the game batting an astounding .550, finished the night 0-4 with four strikeouts.

Conversely, the hot bat for the Pirates was designated hitter Jordan Viramontes, who went 3-5 with a pair of doubles, and three runs batted in.

Shortstop Armando Briseno’s performance was also particularly impressive.

Though Briseno was 0-2, he drew three walks, one of which drove in the game’s inaugural run.

Perhaps the lone bright spot for the Power pitching staff was Connor Wilde, a 6’7 left-handed pitcher from New Mexico State. Wilde pitched three innings in his Power debut, striking out a pair en route to allowing just one earned run.

The Power will get their shot at redemption tomorrow night, as they once again square off against the Inland Valley Pirates on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM, with stadium gates opening an hour before.
