Rancho Mirage Elementary PTG Launch New Sponsor Program to Rebuild Student
Opportunities
Rancho Mirage, CA — Rancho Mirage Elementary School families have come together to launch
a new Sponsor Program, a grassroots effort to rebuild student opportunities and restore the
experiences that every child deserves.
Though Rancho Mirage is one of the most successful and affluent cities in the Coachella Valley, its
only public elementary school has been deeply underserved in recent years. Parents say the effects
of budget cuts and post-pandemic rebuilding have left classrooms stretched thin and field trips
nearly impossible to fund.
The new Sponsor Program runs throughout the school year and focuses on bringing back the joy of
learning beyond the classroom from local field trips and classroom furniture upgrades to helping
children participate in programs their families might not otherwise afford.
“Our goal is to get our kids out there again to experience what the Desert has to offer,” said
Charlene Jean, parent organizer and long-time RMES supporter. “We want them to see and explore
the world beyond the classroom, to visit the local farms, museums, and parks that so many other
students enjoy.”
Sponsorship levels range from $100, $500, and $1,000, each offering recognition in the yearbook,
on school T-shirts, and, for top sponsors, banners displayed during major events such as the
Monster Ball, Jog-A-Thon, Christmas Special, and End-of-Year Celebration.
For many RMES students, these field trips and programs are more than just outings they are
opportunities to dream bigger, to connect learning with the world around them, and to experience
things that wealthier districts take for granted. “Some of our children have never seen the ocean or
visited a museum,” Jean added. “That’s something we can change together.”
Funds raised will directly support field trips, classroom furniture and equipment, and inclusive
student programs that foster pride, confidence, and community connection.
