About Us

Every child holds limitless potential, yet some need an extra boost to reach it.
Since 1987, Variety Children’s Charity of the Desert has been dedicated to empowering children in the Coachella Valley whose lives have been impacted by illness, disability, or come from underserved communities. Our mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their fullest potential.
We provide vital access to specialized support, equipment, and resources tailored to each child’s unique needs. Whether a child faces physical disabilities like cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, or Down Syndrome, or navigates difficulties related to illness or socioeconomic hardship, we’re here to help.
Our four core programs are designed to address the diverse needs of children and families in our community:
Freedom Program – Provides standard and adaptive bicycles, strollers, and wheelchairs for children with disabilities.
Care Program – Ensures early identification of developmental delays, access to therapy, and healthcare referrals.
Future Program – Provides inclusive enrichment opportunities, including sensory-friendly events, arts programs, and educational workshops.
Outreach Program – Offers case management, community resource navigation, and support for families.
