United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire
Announces Erick Rocha as Board Chair
Appointment reflects UCPIE’s commitment to empowering people with disabilities.
PALM DESERT, CA – United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire (UCPIE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Erick Rocha as Chair of its Board of Directors.
For more than 40 years, UCPIE has worked to expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities throughout Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Rocha's appointment reflects the organization's commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities are not only supported through its programs and services but also have a voice in the leadership and decisions that shape its future.
Rocha, who has lived with paraplegia since the age of one, has helped lead advocacy efforts at disability advocacy organizations such as Disability Voices United, where he has worked to ensure the voices of people with disabilities are heard. He also brings personal experience navigating many of the challenges facing the disability community across California.
Rocha’s appointment builds on UCPIE's commitment to bringing people with lived experience into its leadership and ensuring their perspectives help shape its strategic direction. As Chair, Rocha will work alongside UCPIE's executive leadership to support the organization's leadership transition and help guide UCPIE into its next chapter. His focus will be on building upon the organization's more than 40-year legacy while expanding its reach and creating new opportunities for people with disabilities throughout the Inland Empire.
"Having lived with a disability for nearly my entire life, I understand the importance of having a voice in decisions that affect our community," said Rocha. "Disabled people should not only benefit from the work organizations like UCPIE do, but also have a meaningful role in shaping that work. I am grateful for the confidence of my fellow board members and look forward to working together to ensure that our mission is reflected not only in the services we provide, but also in how we lead."
UCPIE also expressed its appreciation to outgoing Board Chair Kathy Webb for her leadership and guidance. With more than five decades of experience in human services and nonprofit leadership, including 20 years as Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy/WORK, Inc., Webb brought extensive knowledge and experience to the Board of Directors. Her leadership helped guide UCPIE through an important period of transition, and her continued involvement will provide valuable experience and guidance as the organization enters its next chapter under new leadership.
